maybe I'm just generous or I'm only listening to albums i know are excellent bc my ratings have been high so far but comminque is top notch class, among the best stuff dire straits (and all guitar rock) have to offer. i think ii focus too much on if an album is time less, and could've been appreciated by a wide variety of audiences, but this is an example of a perfect capture of its time and place, and transits you to a vibe of London 45 years ago. there are definitely parallels in the themes of the songs but i didn't listen like that. the title song however is a peak example of dire straits storytelling mixed with great soloing i should listen to more dire straits
