matt8.5on Seeds2moTVOTR's most consistent album. While some say that the poppier, refined production betrays their original sound, I think the more melodic themes fit their individual talents better. There is still a balance of faster garage rock and R&B which really let's Adebimpe's voice shine. However certainly less ambitious than Nine Types of Light, and most tracks are less distinct compared to their earlier more varied work. This album is in a bit of an awkward spot ranking wise for me where only one, maybe two songs are in my top five for the group, but the rest of the album fills out the majority of the next 10 spots. Very fortunate to see them live after the extended hiatus, not something I thought I'd ever be able to do.
